STRIDE OF STRENGTH AND PRIDE
Green Stallions gallop forward under
scorching heat at R1AA Parade
Like stallions built for endurance and power, SDO Ilocos Sur athletes surged through Candon City streets under the scorching sun during the 2026 R1AA parade on April 6.
“The heat cannot slow us down. Our preparation was far tougher than this, and there is no turning back anymore. This is the moment we put all our hard work into action for Ilocos Sur,” said Dr. Joel T. Peralta, Education Program Supervisor and Division Sports Coordinator.
Green Stallions wore uniforms provided by the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur (PGIS), led by Governor Jeremias “Jerry” Singson. As they moved toward the Candon City Arena, they waved green and white flags, adding vibrance to the delegation’s line.
“Walking in line with my teammates while waving our green and white flags made us feel strong and united as a team, and I felt the pride of representing Ilocos Sur,” said Zea Larraine Sagnep, Football (Girls) player.
Moreover, PGIS hired the KYS Ilocos Drumbeaters to set the rhythm and energize the parade, moving in sync with athletes’ stride. “From our uniforms to the drumbeaters, PGIS helped us showcase the strength and pride of our division through their support, and we are truly thankful,” remarked SGOD Chief Philip John Gregory G. Aldos.
Meanwhile, UNO, the official mascot of Ilocos Sur, joined the delegation during the said event.
