STALLIONS STORM TO BACK-TO-BACK WINS
Mighty Green Stallions dominate 3x3 pool play,
gallop into quarterfinals
CANDON CITY, Ilocos Sur — The Mighty Green Stallions of SDO Ilocos Sur thundered to two commanding victories in the Basketball 3x3 Secondary Girls Division pool phase held yesterday at San Isidro, Candon City.
Displaying poise, precision, and championship grit, the defending R1AA titlists opened their campaign with a 21–12 rout of Ilocos Norte in Game 1. They followed it up with another strong finish, outplaying Laoag City, 21–16, in Game 2 to secure a clean 2–0 slate.
From the opening whistle, Ilocos Sur set the tone with relentless defense and fluid ball movement, capitalizing on quick transitions and sharp perimeter shooting. Their composure under pressure mirrored the experience of a team that once carried Region 1’s banner in the 2025 Palarong Pambansa.
Head coach Mr. David Hiroshi Quitevis credited discipline and teamwork for the twin victories.
“Naimbag nga panagkakadua ken disiplina ti nangted kadakami iti balligi. Inaramid dagiti players ti papelda iti tunggal minuto ti ay-ayam,” he said.
(Our unity and discipline gave us the victory. The players fulfilled their roles every minute of the game.)
Leading the charge was Raina May H. Gandol, who caught fire from beyond the arc, draining multiple two-point shots that swung momentum in their favor.
“Na-inspire ak iti three-point line ammok nga datoy ti mangpangabak ti team Stallions , ket nagballigi kami gapu iti panagtulnog ken panagtitinnulong mi,” Gandol shared.
(I was inspired to shoot from the three-point line, and we won because of our teamwork and trust in each other.)
Backing her were Jemimah O. Gamer, Alondra C. Jacusalem, and Junny May A. Tadina, whose all-around efforts anchored both ends of the floor. Guiding the team alongside Coach Quitevia was chaperon Mrs. Carol H. Herana.
With two straight wins in the books, the Mighty Green Stallions advance confidently to the quarterfinals —determined to defend their crown and continue their dominant run.
