CANDON CITY, Ilocos Sur – Delivering thunderous blows and relentless footwork, Ilocos Sur boxers made a statement at the Region I Athletic Association (RIAA) Meet 2026 on April 8, advancing four fighters to the semifinals and keeping their Palarong Pambansa dreams alive.
Orpin M. Mangaring unleashed a flurry of punches in the Bantam Weight Youth Boys (51-54 kg) division, forcing a referee stoppage due to injury. Meanwhile, Jerick R. Raboy dug deep and outboxed his rival, snatching a split-decision win in the Light Bantam Weight Junior Boys (50-52 kg).
Mark Arnold R. Ragasa, on the other hand, rocked the ring with a crushing knockout in the Minimum Weight Youth Boys (46-48 kg) while Mark Leonard P. Rafanan battled fiercely, clinching a split-decision victory in the Light Fly Weight Junior Boys (46-48 kg).
“It’s all about giving our best and fighting for the Palaro dream,” said Mangaring. “Every punch, every move counts because this is our chance to shine and make our province proud.”
Coach Apol Magsino praised the fighters’ discipline and resilience, saying, “These young athletes have trained hard and left everything in the ring. Their focus, courage, and determination show that Ilocos Sur is a force to be reckoned with. The semifinals are tough, but I have no doubt they will fight with heart for every point and every victory.”
The Ilocos Sur boxing team is now set to bring fire and fury to the semifinals, determined to turn their power, precision, and grit into golden glory at the Palarong Pambansa.
