Mighty Green Stallions sweep

San Fernando City in R1AA volleyball opener, 2-0

CANDON CITY — The Mighty Green Stallions of Ilocos Sur secured a strong opening win defeating San Fernando City, 2-0 in the boys’ secondary volleyball tournament of the 2026 Region 1 Athletic Association (R1AA) Meet on April 7 at the Caterman Cultural Center here.

The Ilocos Sur squad dominated both sets with identical 25-16 scores showcasing solid teamwork and offensive control throughout the match.

Middle attacker Marvin Barrey earned Player of the Game (POG) honor after delivering eight points built on six attacks and two service aces. Setter Christian Paul Bugarin orchestrated the offense enabling consistent scoring opportunities for the team.

Key contributions also came from opposite spiker Edward Sola Jr. and middle blocker Justin Kyle Reintegrado, who played crucial roles in securing the team’s first victory.

Composed largely of players from Narvacan National Central High School (NNCHS) the team is mentored by veteran coach Jumar Digay alongside Peter John Baptista.

The Mighty Green Stallions are set to face Pangasinan II in their next match at 3 PM today.
