San Carlos City to seal elimination win

𝐁𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐀𝐘, 𝐈𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐨𝐬 𝐒𝐮𝐫— SDO Ilocos Sur Mighty Green Stallions averted a late-game comeback attempt from SDO San Carlos City to secure a commanding 3-1 victory and assert their dominance in the elimination round of Secondary Football- Boys during the Region 1 Athletic Association (R1AA) Meet, April 7.  

Szaijan Nicolo Jaramillo opened the scoring early in the first half, piercing through San Carlos defense to slot in the game’s opening goal.

The momentum stayed firmly with the Green Stallions as Juvan Xian Abalos doubled the lead before the halftime break, capitalizing on a sharp assist, 2-0.

Attempting to change the fate of the game, SDO San Carlos City emerged with renewed energy in the second half to breach the Stallions' backline and cut the deficit, 2-1.

With eight minutes remaining, Stallions maintained their composure when Francis John Rigunay fired home the third goal to seal the win. 

"Kahit pressured na noong sinusubukan nilang humabol, nanatili kaming kalmado sa likod. Ang mindset lang namin ay protektahan ang aming net dahil bawat minuto ay mahalaga para makuha ang panalong ito,” Abalos said.

Head coach Jessie Tabag lauded the team's performance, noting that the two-goal lead from Jaramillo and Abalos gave them the advantage they needed.

"Hindi pa tapos ang laban, kaya muli kaming babalik sa pagpaplano upang patatagin ang aming depensa at maghanda para sa susunod naming laro," Tabag remarked.

With this victory, the Mighty Green Stallions are looking forward to more victories ahead as they hope to claim a spot in upcoming Palarong Pambansa.
